Natasha Jolob – Insights from a vibrant and experienced SROI practitioner
Are you ready for our next event on May 5th? Then you should dive in to learn about Natasha Jolob, our fascinating speaker!
“It's ultimately about people, power and voice, and getting a say in decision making.”
[On what she considers to be the core of social value work]
Natasha has lived and breathed social value for the last thirty years. A geographer by training, she first started in the capacity-building sector by working on support infrastructure for UK charities and social enterprises. She’s gone on to work in the social investing sector and has now directed her own social enterprise since 2011. Her approach is informed by her experiences volunteering in India and peacebuilding in the Philippines. Her journey took her from bottom-up, starting as a volunteer, and includes a unique multi-sectoral lens across charities, government work and the private sector.
Natasha has been involved with the Social Value movement since the first guide to SROI by Social UK was first released in 2009. She has been a Level 3 Practitioner for now 6 years and praises the process for boosting her credibility and confidence, complementing her lived experience. For her, the key skill gained from SROI training is stakeholder engagement. From this, SROI practitioners can then apply the technical toolkit and language of SROI training, to understand data and draft impact reports.
Natasha’s perspective is key, tying together business planning tools with social value data to empower stakeholders like charities and ‘arm’ them with said data. She describes this process as a ‘lightbulb’ moment, with the realisation of the need for social value data to inform decision-making.
“It's putting it into a context of business planning, getting funding and maximising value.”
